Murrieta United Methodist Women and United Methodist Men will have a joint meeting on Sunday, March 10th at 12:15 PM in order to learn more about Mark Sorensen’s endeavor as a disaster relief responder with Children’s Disaster Services which partners with the Red Cross. Children’s Disaster Services provides a safe environment for children while their parents take care of business after a disaster, allowing the children to play creatively in a way in which they can express their feelings of fear, loss, etc.

As a volunteer, Mark has already been sent to Northern California during fires, to Florida after a hurricane, and to Las Vegas after the mass shooting.

As a volunteer, Mark has already been sent to Northern California during fires, to Florida after a hurricane, and to Las Vegas after the mass shooting. Mark is trying to put together a Kit of Comfort which contains items that will help entertain the children and relieve some stress and anxiety. Thanks to those who have already contributed items.

Specially trained to respond to traumatized children, volunteers provide a calm, safe and reassuring presence in the midst of the chaos created by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires any natural or human caused disaster.

Since 1980 Children’s Disaster Services (CDS) has been meeting the needs of children by setting up child care centers in shelters and disaster assistance centers across the nation.  Specially trained to respond to traumatized children, volunteers provide a calm, safe and reassuring presence in the midst of the chaos created by tornadoes, floods, hurricanes, wildfires any natural or human caused disaster.

Lunch will be provided to include chicken, potato salad, fruit salad, and cookies. Childcare will also be available. All members of the church are welcome.

Jemina Packington is convinced that she can foresee the future using asparagus spurs. The self-proclaimed “asparamancer” draws her conclusions from the way the spears fall after she throws them into the air. Being British, she claims, among other things, that she predicted Brexit this way. She believes she’s “about 75 to 90 percent accurate. “I go through my predictions each year,” she said, “and think, ‘Yep, that’s happened’”
